OCC RCA Interconnects

Introducing the AIS OCC rca interconnects. After years of development, we have come up with the perfect combination of materials and craftsmanship worthy of the AIS brand. We believe our cables are the most neutral and transparent sounding interconnects on the market.

Wire
High purity OCC copper is the only wire we choose to use in our cable. Ohno Continuous Casting (OCC) copper is the highest quality method of drawing copper. The wire is of 99.99998% purity for both signal and return lines. The drawing and purity of the wire are very important properties in keeping the original signal free of distortions. With many exotic types of metals to pick from, copper was selected for its combination of superior mechanical properties and lack of acoustical imprint on the signal.

Connectors
Eichmann copper bullet plugs were chosen for their world-beating performance and synergy with our wire. They are a low-mass design with aluminium barrels added to improve durability and extend the shielding over the connectors. The bullets use highly conductive gold-plated tellurium copper pins in order to provide a fast and pure signal, resulting in greater clarity over traditional connectors. The Eichmann plugs reduce distortion by making a single point of contact with the side wall of the RCA socket, thereby concentrating the flow of electrons.

Dielectric
A PE air dielectric is used in our cable. It is well known that air is the best dielectric, but for a cable application this is impractical. Our cable uses a compromise of polyethylene and air to achieve a dielectric constant between air (1.0) and PE (2.3). There are other materials with a lower dielectric constant then PE, such as Kynar or Teflon, but we found that these added their own undesirable signature to the sound of the cable.

Shielding
The interconnects use a double shielded design, employing a full aluminium mylar foil wrap and a dense copper braid. The ends of the cables are wrapped in multiple layers of EMI/RF absorption/deflection materials in order to condition the signal. This conditioning effectively prevents EMI/RF from entering your system via the cables and thus ensuring the original signal is not degraded.
