Effects on Audio Playback
The Ophiopogon helps to reduce chassis mechanical vibrations. Audio components that have been properly dampened produce a cleaner, more natural sound. Music should sound full and alive, but without that extra edge and grunge you might not have known was even there. Reducing microphonics in your system is an important part of reproducing recordings accurately. Components without proper isolation and dampening are simply not delivering up to their full potential. When placed on top of an audio component, the Ophiopogon works by reducing upper chassis “ringing” that is caused by internal and external vibrations.
In audio equipment, EMI fields may radiate up to a few feet around a components chassis. If these fields are not positively dealt with, they can propagate into the components circuitry, leading to noise artifacts and distortion.
If you have not addressed EMI/RFI issues in your system, reducing this interference will result in a far more natural sound, which for most users means a more pleasant and emotional experience. The hi-fi sound many audio systems are known for becomes extremely musical and realistic when EMI/RFI problems are finally addressed. Some Ophiopogon owners have reported hearing tighter bass with the unit in place. |

Recommended Usage
You may find that the Ophiopogon works best when placed in the near vicinity of transformers in your components (transformers begin a primary source of EMI). For CD/ SACD /DVD players and transports, we have found a box placed directly over the drive mechanism to work well. Other areas where the Ophiopogon can be placed include on top of dacs, speakers, power amps, pre-amps, external crossovers, phono stages and receivers.
Additional mass can be added on top of the Ophiopogon. The units feet will work to decouple the component from any added objects. |

The Ophiopogon 3.1 uses a combination of layers of Stillpoints ERS cloth, carbon fiber woven fabric and other high-end materials to absorb and redirect EMI/RFI away from your equipment. We use only the finest materials in a unique blend to achieve superior shielding results across all frequency ranges.
Sand is an effective natural material for dampening vibrations and the red sand found on the island of PEI is rich with iron oxide, making it a practical choice for combating EMF. The sand in each Ophiopogon is purified by going through a time consuming filtration process followed by a high temperature heating procedure. In addition to the sand, other dampening compounds are employed to stop vibrations from propagating from your components up into the box.
Our product contains no ferrites. The audible effects of ferrites can sometimes be negative and we only want to provide products that produce positive results in all audio systems. |
